The lyrics of this song strongly suggest it’s about the death of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, who took his own life in 1980. You see an image of Ian in the doorway at the end of the video.

I can’t seem to get this cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes” out of my head. I think they did a really nice version of this song, although the original is pretty damn perfect.

Have you seen No Distance Left to Run, the documentary that follows Blur around on their 2009 reunion tour? I really quite enjoyed it and is a must see for any Blur fans. I only wished I saw it on the big screen but I don’t think it ever got a proper release date here in the US. You can buy it here or watch it in parts on YouTube.
