I saw Black Mountain perform a loud & energetic show at the Bootleg Theater Thursday night to a packed audience. The venue is practically the size of my apt. so you can imagine how amazing it was to see them perform in all their epicness. I had a lot of fun even though my poor ears were ringing hours later.

I know Sufjan Stevens isn’t for everyone but he will forever hold a place in my heart. You see 2005 was a very emotional year for me, both happy and sad. I had landed a kick-ass job and lost my grandfather who was like a father to me. I found solace in music and I remember listening to Sufjan Stevens, Devendra Banhart, and BRMC on repeat at work, at home, and in my car for the long drives visiting my dying grandfather at the hospital. Their music kept me calm at a time that was very rough for me.
To everyone’s surprise, Stevens made an announcement yesterday that he will be releasing a new full-length album, The Age of Adz, on October 12th via Asthmatic Kitty. I still have to give his new ep, All Delighted People, a proper listen but I really dig the sounds of “I Walked”.
Maaaaaaan, it is hot here in Southern Cali! Last night I went to check on my apt. and it was pretty sweltering inside it at 7:30pm. Sadly, the apt. is still unlivable. I still have no floors and my landlord decided to rip out all the old plumbing for new plumbing. I’m kinda glad she’s doing it because I cannot go through this again. What a nightmare and a headache this has become. At least there’s a perk staying at the parent’s house…a pool!! I like how my colored toesies look against the aqua water.

Hmm, dunno how I really feel about this pictorial in the latest GQ.com. At first glance I gasped and laughed, but now I’m like, “eh, kinda gross”, lol.
Anyway, I welcome any laughter since I am still unable to move back home. It really does suck when your life gets stalled.
